More information

Camp Counselors will occasionally have to:

  • Perform non-counseling duties as part of camp life, but not serve as “staff.”

  • For example, they cannot serve as administrator personnel, cooks or menial laborers such as dishwashers or janitors.

Most of the camps we represent are special needs camps.

These programs serve campers, children and adults with special needs, autism mainly and related developmental disabilities. Counselors need to help with all daily care needs, including washing, dressing, eating assistance, behavioral support. And although no specific qualifications are necessary, the work is challenging and demanding. Camps are operating with less counselors than campers, so adding more counselors is always helpful and also counselors need to be aware of how demanding the general daily work is and also with little supervisors, counselors need to be independently capable to help with daily programs for their group along with all personal care needs.
